Artful Holidays

Artful Holidays is a boutique-style juried fine arts and crafts show and sale.  It is held in November to optimize the holiday buying season. Free parking is available behind the arts center and additional parking lot is located adjacent to the front of the building. Our art galleries are also open during the sale.

Exhibitors participate by invitation of the Artful Holidays Committee. The committee looks for high quality arts and crafts produced by artists from Livingston County and the surrounding region. The committee aims to exhibit a variety of media and styles without putting artists in competition with one another. Items for exhibit and sale are not limited to visual art and crafts; Artful Holidays may also feature books, recordings and videos by local artists, and artisan food products. The committee limits the number of exhibitors to 30. To have your work considered, complete and submit the appropriate application by July15. Applications will be considered after this date if not all spaces have been filled. New exhibitors must also provide:

  • photos of your work
  • retail prices

There is no exhibitor fee, though applicants must be a member of the arts council (memberships start at $25). A 25% commission will be taken on net sales (gross sales less sales tax).

Registered exhibitors will receive complete instructions for product delivery/pick up and labeling/pricing in early fall.

Annual Dinner

The arts council holds its annual business meeting and election of board members each fall. The event is incorporated into the annual dinner. The evening often includes a silent auction of local artwork and the recipients of the Arts Leadership Award are recognized (see below). Members receive invitations to this important event by mail.

Arts Leadership Awards

The Genesee Valley Council on the Arts established its Arts Leadership Awards in 1998 to honor the exceptionally talented, hardworking and generous people who make Livingston County so rich in arts and culture. Each year, the Board of Directors selects a committee of its current members who determine the categories and criteria for which awards will be given, solicits nominations from members, constituents and the general public, and selects the awardees. Awards are presented at our Annual Dinner.

Invite Some Light with Jennifer DeVille Catalano

Beginning this summer, Jennifer will be teaching a mindful living class that meets the first Thursday of each month from 12:00-1:30pm at Livingston Arts. “Invite Some Light” will give you the opportunity to gather with a group of friendly women as you develop your vision for the month ahead. Using simple writing prompts, you’ll acknowledge the gifts and lessons of the previous month, then release them to make room for what you want to invite into your world. Next, you’ll get creative with paper, scissors, and glue as you bring your portable vision board to life. Gain accountability by sharing with the group and returning monthly. Each session is only $10 and all supplies are provided. Absolutely no art or writing experience is necessary! Feel free to bring your lunch along!

Autumn “Invite Some Light”

Thurs. Nov 2, 2017: 6:00pm-7:30pm
