Devin Snyder Book Reading @ Dansville American Legion
Jul 13 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Devin Snyder Book Reading @ Dansville American Legion | Dansville | New York | United States

Local writer Dan Folts will read excerpts of his draft of his recent biography of Cohocton native Sgt. Devin Snyder at the Dansville American Legion on Thursday, July 13 at 7:00 pm. at the Dansville American Legion. He will also make excerpts available to the public for the month of July in four area libraries: Dansville Public Library, Wayland Free Library, Atlanta Public Library, and Cohocton Public Library.

Sgt. Snyder, three other members of the Army’s 164th MP Company, and one civilian contractor were killed by an IED in Laghman Province, Afghanistan in 2011. They were part of the effort to train Afghan National Police to keep peace in the country after the fall of the Taliban.

The Snyder family asked Folts to take on the project and he began work on it in 2014. He recently spent a sabbatical year finishing the work. He was awarded an Individual Artist Grant through Livingston Arts.

The Dansville American Legion is located at 34 Elizabeth Street in the Village of Dansville. Light refreshments will be served.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts at the Livingston Arts Center, a member supported organization.
